This is a very special William IV rosewood tea caddy that is intricately inlaid with mother of pearl.

Elaborately designed on the top and front, the inlay is in pristine condition, despite its almost 200 years age. It is surrounded with bobbin turned moulding and sits on four heavily carved bun feet. The caddy maintains its original regency style handles. You can see in the photos, there is a small section at the front left and the back right where this moulding has disappeared. Reassuringly, this is not noticeable unless pointed out.

Internally, the casket is in wonderful condition. The two canisters - one for black and one for green tea are also inlaid with the most marvellous pearl detail. Both canisters' lids move smoothly and sit securely and site well and tight in position.

The glass mixing bowl that sits in the centre is original and presented without any chips or scratches.

A very fine item that comes from a short yet fascinating time in history.
