Elegant Victorian Bulbous Claret Jug

Elegant Victorian Bulbous Claret Jug

€165.00

This is a very elegant late Victorian bulbous claret jug.

This impressive jug has been beautifully designed and made by quality craftsmen. The glass has been hand cut in an intricate lattice style whilst the neck of the jug has been cut with elongated grooves to accentuate the vessel's length. There is minimal milking internally at the base of the jug that will disappear instantly with a good clean.

The silver plate mount is the star of the show. The shape of its protruding spout and regal finial to the sinuous style of the handle; all leading downwards to the necklace-like design of linked roundels engraved with laurel leaves.

Internally, at the top of the neck, the jug has a not-often-seen cork to keep its contents fresh.

The condition is excellent. There is no wear or repair to the silver plate and the glass has no chips or scratches. There is minimal milking internally at the base of the jug that will disappear instantly with a good clean.

A wonderful example of Victorian dining that is as relevant today as it was 130 years ago.
