Victorian Silver Plate Sardine Box

Victorian Silver Plate Sardine Box

Sale Price:€225.00 Original Price:€275.00

This is a beautiful example of an antique sardine box.

Made by Pinder Brothers from Sheffield in the late 19th century, it is proudly offered to you in perfect condition. The silver plating and the glass show absolutely no signs of wear. An extraordinary feat given its 135 years of life.

The box's stand has a sinuous design motif and enjoy soft curves to the base and to the guards and handle. The lid is elaborately engraved with a floral motif whilst the sardine finial is what makes this box extra special and reflects the superior design of the piece.

The frosted glass dish has been acid etched with a geometric lattice design - another design element that takes this box to another level.

All in all, an excellent example of a Victorian sardine box that will be a very welcome addition to any collection.
