Antique Victorian Opaline Glass Butter Dish

Antique Victorian Opaline Glass Butter Dish

€175.00

This is an elegant Victorian opaline glass butter dish with impressive cow finial.

The intricately designed dish includes so many interesting elements. The repeating pierced motif that surrounds the glass. The mythical beasts transformed into four splayed feet. The handsome and majestic cow that stands proudly as the large finial to the piece. In addition, the hand crafted opaline glass dish.

The glass is in wonderful condition with no damage or restoration. The base has been previously repaired with some soldering to the inner edge. The lid shows no signs of wear but its circular edge is slightly ajar so does not sit absolutely flush with the stand. These imperfections are represented well in the photos.

A fine example of the elegant dining experienced by many during the Victorian period.
