Elaborate Hukin And Heath Claret Jug

Elaborate Hukin And Heath Claret Jug

€250.00

This is a magnificent claret jug made by Hukin and Heath in the 1880s.

The rare design of this jug is something to be admired.

The silver plate mount is intricately decorated. Engraved to all sides in a regal motif the neck is complemented beautifully with a very imposing Bacchus/Dionysus spout - beautifully moulded with a strong spout. The finial is in the style of a majestic lion rampant, holding it shield proudly. The handle completes the incredible design of this mount. In a handsome geometric shape, it is also includes a Bacchus/Dionysus face. Note, the plating has rubbed in places to reveal the brass underneath. Definitely not a distraction.

The cut glass jug holds its own in the jug. A gloriously cut lattice design, it is so well cut it sparkles just like crystal. Finally, its base in cut in an intricate starburst - the sure sign of quality.

An absolute joy to look at and enjoy.
