Christopher Dresser for Hukin and Heath Bark Design Tray

Christopher Dresser for Hukin and Heath Bark Design Tray

Sale Price:€202.00 Original Price:€225.00

This large serving tray was designed by Dr. Christopher Dresser for Hukin and Heath in c. 1880.

Proudly presented in wonderful condition, the craftsmanship of Hukin and Heath is still evident today in the first-class electroplating, not to mention the unique design that is as contemporary today as it was 140 years ago.

The bark effect is hand hammered and is representative of the Victorian aesthetic movement.

There is some minor rubbing to the underside of one handle and two slim scratches to the centre of the tray. Both blemishes are shown in the final photo and are hard to spot in real life unless under scrutiny.

Christopher Dresser was an extraordinary designer with vision years ahead of his time. Throughout his career he chose his collaborators carefully. The first-class silversmiths; Hukin and Heath were one of these carefully chosen partners. Throughout their relationship they created a few but forever remembered designs and pieces.

This tray one of those designs.

A special piece that would no doubt be a magnificent addition to a collection.
