Victorian Cut Glass and Silver Plate Biscuit Barrel

Victorian Cut Glass and Silver Plate Biscuit Barrel

Sale Price:€148.00 Original Price:€165.00

This impressive biscuit barrel was designed and made at height of Victoria's reign.

Made by well regarded silversmiths Thomas Latham and Ernest Morton, it is offered to you in wonderful condition. The silver plate survives extremely well. Commensurate only with its age, there is some minor rubbing to the lid where fingers would have rested to raise it up. Otherwise, the plating to the handles and base are in fantastic condition.

The cut glass is absolutely striking. The repeating motif of starbursts and spheres, it reminds one of a sparkling night sky. There are no chips or damage to the crystal.

Please note, any blemishes you may see in the photos are due to reflection or camera quality.

The barrel sits balanced on four splayed legs and the lid's mechanism is smooth.

A special piece that would be fantastic addition to any collection.
