Elaborate Decorative Victorian Bacchus Style Claret Jug
This is a beautiful example of a Victorian claret jug.
Designed for impact, the silver plate mount is heavily detailed. The elaborate handle is almost architectural in its shape, whilst the spout takes the form of the god of wine: Bacchus. The neck of the mount is engraved with laurel leaves, including a cartouche on each side - left bank for you to personalise.
The plating remains strong with no rubbing. The glass is presented to you in perfect condition. It is clear and shows no signs of milking scratches or chips. The floral decoration of mostly large fern leaves has been created using the acid etched method.
A joy to look at and I am sure a joy to own.
