Elaborate Victorian Uranium Opaline Glass and Silver Plate Dish

Elaborate Victorian Uranium Opaline Glass and Silver Plate Dish

€300.00

This is a magnificent mid-Victorian silver plate dish with exquisite uranium opaline glass liner.

The elaborately designed piece includes so many well crafted elements. Surrounding the bowl is an expertly pierced motif of repeating oval shields. Each handle is made from two beautifully tactile snakes on either side. The lid, continuing the pierced effect, is topped with an intricately moulded flower and leaves as a finial. The entire piece sits proudly of four scrolled feet.

In addition to these special design features, the hand crafted uranium opaline glass dish makes this set come alive. A gorgeous and genuinely antique colour that is translucent when held to the light, it really does transform this butter dish into something rather extraordinary.

A must have for any collector.
