This is a quintessentially Victorian silver plate tea caddy.
Elaborately engraved to all sides, the piece has been well loved and often used.
As you can see from the photos, the plating has rubbed to leave a dull silver effect. There is some black spotting to the stand and internally it shows signs of wear.
The lid, topped with an ivory finial, has a smooth mechanism and closes tight to ensure no air can sneak inside.
A gorgeously shape and designed piece, that with new plating - if you so desire, would look as new as it did 150 years ago.
