Early Victorian Trefoil Tantalus with Three Crystal Decanters

Early Victorian Trefoil Tantalus with Three Crystal Decanters

€500.00

This is a magnificent trefoil tantalus made by Thomas Wilkinson between 1840-1845.

The imposing silver plate stand is decorated with three winged mythical goddesses. The wings have been intricately crafted to bring to life the minute detail to the feathers. Meanwhile, their faces have exquisite definition with all features still visible.

The three crystal decanters are in absolutely perfect condition. Expertly crafted with diamond cut stoppers and an etched vine leaf motif on each. There are no marks to the glass whatsoever. No rubbing at the neck, milking, scratches or chips.

To the stand you will see slight rubbing to the plating where the bottles rest and a minor 1-2 degree skew to the handle. Definitely not a distraction from the beauty of this set that was made at the beginning of Victoria's reign.

An excellent addition to your home.
