James Dixon Silver Plate Revolving Serving Dish

James Dixon Silver Plate Revolving Serving Dish

€835.00

This is an exceptional example of a mid Victorian revolving serving dish.

Made by James Dixon and Son in the middle of the 19th century, it is proudly presented to you in wonderful condition.

The three piece item is elaborately decorated. The dome is brought to life with an impressive Grecian key-style relief. Above that sits a floral motif relief. All leading to the top of the dome that has been engraved with a celebratory four pointed design.

The dome stands proudly on four legs in the shape of rams heads, legs and hoofs. The detail of the rams heads and the supporting legs and hoofs show the superior craftsmanship of James Dixon and his company.

Internally, the two dishes are in fantastic condition with very minimal signs of wear - far less than you would expect from dining ware of +150 years.

The silver plating continues to sparkle across the entire piece. The revolving mechanism is smooth and the item sits balanced and strong on its four legs.

A special piece from an era or real extravagance.
